About Maryna

Maryna Gąsienica-Daniel is the best Polish skier since 1987, specializing mainly in giant slalom. She was born on February 19, 1994, in Zakopane, into a sports-oriented family, becoming its seventh representative for Poland at the Olympic Games. She represents the TS Wisła Zakopane sports club, and she achieved her greatest successes under the guidance of coach Marcin Orłowski.

Sporting Career

Achievements:

Training and Preparation:

Competitive sports are full of sacrifices, especially in disciplines where training opportunities in the home country are extremely limited. Maryna spends over 300 days a year away from home, seeking suitable training conditions. The career of an alpine skier requires intense physical training combined with specialized on-snow practice.

Maryna Gąsienica-Daniel has been coached by Marcin Orłowski for 8 years, with additional support from Italian coach Pietro Fontana and Austrian Andreas Angerer.

Private Life:

You have to love what you do, so it’s no surprise that Maryna privately loves the mountains. Whether in summer or winter, she doesn’t limit herself to skiing. Ski touring and trekking are her go-to activities for spending free time. The rest of her time is devoted to her family, who have supported her throughout her sports career. And, of course, to her loyal dog – Anuuk.
